Empowering NYC Teens to Explore Nature

Teen Trailblazers is a certified non-profit organization in NYC that opens the doors to the Great Outdoors for kids and teens who may not have the opportunity otherwise. Through engaging outdoor education programs, we equip youth with essential skills that will accompany them throughout their lives. Our mission is to inspire a love for nature and learning, empowering the next generation of leaders to discover, learn, and thrive in the wilderness.

Maya Bab, CEO & Founder

Maya has been camping and hiking since she was a little kid in upstate New York. She loves nature, and wanted to embark on a longer journey in the Great Outdoors as a middle and high schooler, so she went on a NOLS trip and an Outward Bound. She is deeply grateful to the skills camping and hiking instilled in her -- empathy, working well with others, grit, determination, appreciation for those around her, and how to overcome obstacles, to name a few. She uses those skills daily in her life. She is currently a high schooler at The Brearley School, but in Middle School she began leading courses on outdoor education. With the support of her teachers and the administration, Maya created an Outdoor Education Club for middle schoolers at Brearley. She created and carried a curriculum and culminated the course in a camping trip. Based on this engaging program, Maya decided to bring outdoor education to kids and teens living in NYC who wouldn't otherwise get to enjoy the Great Outdoors. Teen Trailblazers was born!
